For the past few weeks, life has become much smaller than I’m used to.

Simple things like walking the dogs, climbing the stairs and even getting out of bed have become daily challenges as I wait for hip replacement surgery. Earlier this week, I had to stop walking the dogs altogether. There have been moments when I’ve wondered how much more I can take, especially after this week’s trip to A&E, more X-rays and the realisation that my mobility has deteriorated even further.

And yet... here I am.

This morning, as I put the finishing touches to my completely rewritten guide to the 7 of Wands, I couldn’t help smiling at the timing. This is the Tarot card of standing your ground when life tests your resolve. Not by fighting everyone around you, but by refusing to give up on what matters most.

Perhaps that’s my lesson too.

Some battles aren't won in a single dramatic moment. They're won one difficult day at a time, one small act of faith after another.
