Happy month of June, Angel Hearts!
If you watch YouTube videos and are in the spiritual community, the Aubrey Marcus polyamory (rebranded “radical monogamy”) controversy won’t have passed you by. This is the biggest uproar I’ve seen in the spiritual community since Doreen Virtue did a 180, left the New Age for fundamentalist Christianity and started accusing her former students and followers of being demon-possessed.
I wrote a little bit about my take on what’s going on in one of the most recent blog posts on Angelorum, A Powerful Magdalene Tarot Spread & The Truth About Sacred Union. However, I want to dig a bit deeper—not into the personal lives of Aubrey, his wife Vylana or their unicorn Alana, but into what’s happening with the controversy from a bird’s eye point of view. I also want to contrast it with the Doreen Virtue controversy because a lot has happened in the collective since 2017.
Back in 2017, some of us did speak out, but there was a lot more effort going into silencing the voices of those who spoke out. Many ‘love & lighters’ got on their high horses and refused to call out truly toxic and harmful behaviour from a spiritual leader, and instead turned on her already gaslighted victims. I believe seeds of consciousness were sown back then, because, though there are many and varied responses to the recent polyamory controversy, people who are calling out toxic behaviour and dissociation are rarely gaslighted.
Why is that, and what has happened since 2017? Well, 2020 happened. The mass hypnosis started losing its grip on people. Those of us who were habitually dissociating had nowhere to run—we had to embody our authentic selves fully or leave this reality. It was a painful process and one that took several years for me.
The problem with fully embodied, authentic spiritual folks is that they can spot dissociation from a mile away.
Nobody cares if people want to engage in polyamory. That’s not the reason for the uproar. One of the reasons for the drama and controversy that errupted online is that nobody is falling for ‘the expert,’ Dr Marc Gafni, who’s on the podcast, using very finest word to try to rebrand what’s happening when everyone else sees a woman suffering, a woman who is being wronged, gaslighted and manipulated by a husband and his guru. It was gutwrenching to watch.
Can you be authentic and grounded in a polyamorous set-up? Maybe, but it’s much harder because instead of dealing with the wounds and trauma of another person, you have more than one person triggering you. It’s hard work, and it’s likely not a situation you’d want to bring children into. (In the podcast, Aubrey claims the Goddess Isis told him he had to ‘impregnate both of them.’)
What we witnessed was neither authentic nor grounded. Almost everyone watching this podcast saw it for what it was: an attempt to call a spade anything but a spade. And this is a good thing. This throuple and their guru putting their shadow on display is helping us heal, so I’m grateful for their service. I could have benefited from watching this whole thing unfold when I was younger and more naive, because it would have saved me from a lot of harm.
When the Doreen Virtue controversy broke out, the false light movement was in full swing, gaslighting and claiming there is no such thing as a victim. 2020 and everything that’s happened in the wake of that have helped us move on from that paradigm.
Here are a few of the things I see us waking up to collectively:
There are real victims of gaslighting gurus, teachers and spiritual leaders
Sacred union is only possible between non-disassociated people
There is a changing of the guard in spiritual leadership
The false light is fading
People can read the energy and frequency of others to a much higher degree, making it much more difficult for wanna-be gurus and cult leaders to dress things up with fancy words.

Card of the Month
Our card for June is Temperance. This is also the card representing the truth-loving Sagittarius energy of the June Full Moon.
The Angel of Temperance (who is part of all of us) is the divine integrator, the one who calls our fragmented selves home. She is the bridge between extremes, the alchemist of Water and Fire, instinct and discernment, feminine and masculine.
And this month, her presence is needed more than ever, because collective energies are anything but temperate right now.
What we witnessed through the Aubrey Marcus podcast was a rupture in the veil, a chance to see through the rebranding of dissociation as sacred union. And we saw it clearly because the Angel of Temperance has been working with us behind the scenes.
She asks:
🔹 Are you willing to stay in your body while doing deep soul work?
🔹 Are you ready to stop bypassing pain with pretty words?
🔹 Will you alchemise your shadow until it no longer cancels out your deeper truth?
This card is the death of dissociation and the birth of soul alchemy.
Temperance is the card that whispers:
True sacred union cannot happen until both parties have done the work of soul alchemy.
Until there is no guru, only presence. No escape, only integration.
No performance, only truth.
So let June be the month where you pour truth into love, grace into shadow, until your cup runneth over with real, radiant authenticity.
If you're feeling the call to integrate more deeply — not just your shadow, but also your divine potential — I have something for you.
