Happy Wednesday, Soul Family. As Human Design is growing exponentially in popularity, I feel that I have resisted researching it for long enough, especially since I recently listened to a book on Audible, titled ‘The Witch's Way to Wealth’ by Jessie DaSilva (affiliate link) that covered the basics quite well.
I’m going to be honest, when I first came across Human Design, I felt repelled by it. Not another system!! Why can’t we just settle on Astrology? And why only four categories? Surely humanity can’t be divided into categories that are that broad? So yeah, I had some serious objections based on nothing but ignorance.
Realising that I didn’t know enough to make an informed decision, I decided to dive in and cure my ignorance… and I’m kinda glad I did. I hope you’ll agree with me when you read today’s article on Angelorum—Especially if you identify as a Projector. I plan on covering the other three types with bespoke Tarot spreads in the future so watch this space.
There are plenty of free tests online to see which Human Design type you are. I fall into the most common category myself, the Generator.

The Origins and Growth of Human Design
Human Design is a relatively new system of understanding human beings that emerged in the late 20th century. It was developed by Ra Uru Hu, who introduced it as a synthesis of various ancient and modern esoteric disciplines. Since its inception in the 1990s, Human Design has grown considerably in popularity, especially among those seeking deeper insights into their personality, decision-making processes, and life purpose.
The Four Main Types in Human Design
Human Design categorises people into four main types, each with its own unique role and strategy for making decisions:
Manifestors - About 8-9% of the population, Manifestors are initiators meant to impact and get things started.
Generators - Making up about 37% of the population, Generators are the powerhouse, meant to master and produce.
Projectors - Approximately 21-22% of people, Projectors are managers and guides, designed to direct and understand.
Reflectors - The rarest type, making up only about 1% of the population, Reflectors are mirrors to their environment, offering a unique perspective.
Each type interacts differently with the world (with variations for subtypes), and understanding one’s type can lead to better decisions and more fulfilling interactions.
Inspirational Systems Behind Human Design
Human Design draws from several traditions and systems:
Astrology: It incorporates the astrological positioning of planets at the time of birth.
I Ching: The 64 hexagrams of this ancient Chinese system correspond to the 64 gates in the Human Design bodygraph.
Kabbalah: The Tree of Life from Kabbalistic teachings influences the structure of the Human Design chart.
Chakra System: The traditional seven-body chakra system is expanded to nine centres in Human Design, integrating psychological and biological aspects.
Quantum Physics: Concepts of energy and matter interactions influence the understanding of how individuals operate.
Comparing and Contrasting Human Design and Astrology
While both Human Design and Astrology use the positions of the planets at the time of birth, they differ in their approach and what they emphasise:
Astrology focuses on personality traits, life events, and certain potentials based on planetary movements and relationships.
Human Design incorporates astrology but goes further by integrating other systems, offering a more detailed blueprint of how a person is designed to interact with the world uniquely.
Both systems can complement each other by offering different lenses through which to view one's life and decisions. Astrology can provide a detailed description of character traits and tendencies, while Human Design offers practical tools on how to make decisions and interact with others effectively. Together, they provide comprehensive insights that help individuals understand themselves and their paths in life deeply.
