🜏 Marked by the Serpent: Dreaming the Divine Feminine Back into Being
July Astrology/Card of the Month + Weekly Pick-a-Card + a Mini Serpent Ritual
A few years ago, I had a dream that I still carry like an invisible tattoo of a serpent sigil. The sigil actually arrived before the dream. At first, I didn’t realise the two were connected. In the image above, you can see the sigil I painted on my Witch’s Stone of Power in 2023. The shape of the sigil was transferred from a painting I channelled back in 2021. Sadly, I destroyed this painting during my 2022-23 religious trauma relapse. Thankfully, the shape was so vivid in my inner eye that I had no problem reproducing it once I recovered.
In the serpent dream, someone pointed to my right shoulder blade and told me that Wadjet, the ancient cobra goddess of Egypt, was tattooed there. I couldn’t see it, but I felt it: the fire, the gaze, the silent knowing that I was marked. I felt fiercely protected. (AI rendition of a Wadjet tattoo below)
It felt as if the dream transcended the personal realm. What I experienced was ancestral, cosmic, and rooted in the Divine Feminine. This snake was not the evil temptress of later monotheistic dogma, but the bringer of sight. She was the guardian of the mysteries, and she arrived to help me remember, but also to protect me while I went further back into deep memory, the realm that the Archons so jealously protect.
As I’m sharing the memory of the dream, I’m also reminded of the time I visited Alnwick Castle (yes, where they filmed Harry Potter!) in 2012. There was a reptile handler in the castle gardens who had a boa constrictor with him. I was incredibly drawn to get close to the large snake and feel her skin against mine. She quickly wrapped herself around my body and made herself comfortable. We were both very relaxed, and her handler said she was showing signs that she enjoyed being with me. The connection was primal, and it felt timeless.
The Ophites and the Wisdom of the Serpent
Ever since I first heard of the Ophites, I felt strangely drawn to them. Perhaps this is a distant echo of a past life memory, or simply a recognition that some truths survive in our DNA.
The Ophites were a mystical Gnostic sect that saw the serpent of Eden not as a villain, but as a liberator. In their cosmology, it was not the serpent who betrayed humanity, but the archontic powers who sought to keep us trapped in illusion. The Ophites honoured Sophia and saw Christ as a revealer of hidden light, not a redeemer who had to be sacrificed for our sins, but an awakener of the truth already within.
🐍 The Serpent as She-Who-Knows
Across many cultures, the serpent shows up at the feet of goddesses, wound around the staffs of healers, or curled beside prophets and mystics.
She is the midwife of death and rebirth, the protector of sacred knowledge, the sacred feminine in motion.
And in Hermetic thought, as in Gnostic, alchemical, and indigenous traditions, the serpent is not something to fear or crush—she is something to meet. To understand. To partner with.
Whether it’s:
The serpent on the rod of Asclepius
The bronze serpent of Moses, lifted up for healing
Sophia in the Garden of Eden, the initiator of gnosis
Or Ouroboros, the serpent who eats her tail in endless renewal
…the message is the same:
The Serpent is Wisdom.
The Serpent is Power.
The Serpent is She-Who-Sees.
🌿 The Wood Snake: Collective Energy of 2025
It’s no coincidence that all of this is rising again in the Year of the Wood Snake.
This is the serpent of intuition and inner growth, not fast and flashy, but strategic, wise, rooted in the Earth and woven with sky.
The Wood Snake invites us to:
Reclaim our spiritual sovereignty
Move with purpose and grace
Listen for the wisdom that coils just beneath the surface
And above all, to shed what no longer serves—not in shame, but in sacred renewal.
🔮 If You’re Feeling the Pull...
If something stirs in you when you see snake imagery…
If you long to reconnect with the Divine Feminine in a way that feels old, wise, and real…
…then you’re not imagining it. You’re remembering.
To help with that, I created a special Pick-a-Pile Tarot reading that dives into serpent wisdom through the cards.

🔥 Mini Ritual: Shedding in Stillness
You don’t need elaborate tools or ceremonial garb to connect with serpent wisdom — just a moment of presence and willingness to feel.
Here’s a simple practice you can try tonight:
✦ Serpent Breath Ritual
Light a candle (white, green, or gold — but any will do).
Sit comfortably and close your eyes. Breathe deeply into your belly.
With each exhale, hiss out a soft ‘sssss’-sound, and imagine a layer of old skin releasing. It might be fear, control, people-pleasing, or doubt. Name it silently and hiss it out. You can use swaying movements to help shed stale, old energy if you feel this helps. Bellydance music can be helpful for the movement part of this ritual.
Now, bring your awareness to the base of your spine. Imagine a gentle, luminous serpent coiled there.
Ask softly: What wisdom do you have for me?
Wait. Breathe. Listen. Pull a card if that is something you like to do…
Give thanks and journal your findings. Blow out the candle.
July 2025 Astrology Forecast: The Serpent Shifts
July brings a cascade of celestial shifts — a true turning of the cosmic wheel that echoes the energy of the rising serpent: sudden, electric, liberating.
Uranus enters Gemini (7 July):
This is the headline event of the month. Uranus, planet of awakening and disruption, moves into curious, communicative Gemini, shaking up how we think, speak, and connect. This marks the beginning of a 7-8 year cycle of rapid innovation in tech, education, AI, and spiritual communication. Expect surprises, especially around your mindset, messaging, or mission.
Tip: Uranus in Gemini = monkey mind. Keep grounded and discern between divine downloads and scattered noise. This article might help.
Mercury Retrograde in Leo (19 July–12 August):
This retrograde pulls us into reflection on identity, creativity, and joy. Who are you becoming? What lights you up — and what used to, but no longer does? Combined with Uranus’ shake-up, this retrograde invites a personal rebrand of how we express the Self.
Tip: Revisit old creative ideas. One may be ready to roar again.
Jupiter in Cancer:
Jupiter entered Cancer earlier this month and offers a beautiful emotional buffer. Jupiter in Cancer brings expansive, nourishing, heart-centred energy — the wise mother archetype standing beside the serpent. With all the change stirring, Jupiter helps us root into what feels safe and sacred in July.
Tip: Cocoon when you need to. Growth sometimes needs softness.
Venus in Gemini (from 5 July):
This adds lightness and flexibility to our relationships and values. There’s a desire for connection through conversation, wit, and shared ideas. It also supports fresh romantic or artistic expressions sparked by Uranus in Gemini.
Tip: Let your muses surprise you. Love and art are shapeshifting.
Lunar Highlights:
Full Moon in Capricorn (10 July, 18°): Culmination in career or purpose. What once felt like a mountain may now be your platform.
New Moon in Leo (24 July, 2°): A bold new seed of self-expression. Perfect for setting intentions aligned with your authentic voice.
Justice: Card of the Month
Presiding over these cosmic shifts is Justice — the Tarot’s sacred reminder that every choice has weight, and that truth is not just abstract but lived. With so many mental, relational, and ideological shake-ups in the sky, Justice calls us back to centre. She is the blade that cuts through illusion, the scales that assess both intention and impact. Under her gaze, we are not asked to be honest with ourselves. She demands alignment between our thoughts, our words, and our actions.
This month, as Uranus shocks our communication systems and Mercury retrograde rewinds our sense of identity, Justice asks us to slow down, weigh carefully, and respond rather than react. She is the antidote to chaos and the invitation to move forward with clear inner authority.
In summary:
July is a month of accelerated evolution — mentally, spiritually, and collectively. Uranus in Gemini awakens new ways of thinking and sharing truth, while Mercury retrograde in Leo pulls us back to examine the stories we've told about ourselves. Jupiter in Cancer and Venus in Gemini add softness and flexibility to the mix, but the call to liberate outdated patterns is strong.
Justice, our guiding archetype, offers clarity amid complexity. Her presence reminds us that while the world may feel in flux, integrity is always our anchor. Choose your words with care. Take bold steps, but balance them with discernment. Let July be the month you shed the false and stand fully in the truth of who you are becoming.
🜍 A Closing Blessing
May the Serpent wrap you in remembrance.
May she show you what must be shed.
May her fire rise gently through you,
Until you see with the eye behind your eyes.
Love,
Lisa x
The snake card in Lenormand 'supposed' meaning is deception, manipulation, and a bad person. Because I'm a dream interpreter, I rarely read it as that meaning as the snake has many, many meanings.
