Setting Jesus Free
The Tarot Lovers + A Tarot Spread in Honour of Tyr
I don’t need a saviour. A teacher? Yes, please! A pure and innocent human as a scapegoat for my mistakes and foibles? No.
I’m sorry for letting you hang on that cross all these years, Jesus. I never found you there. And I felt as unheard and unseen by you on your cross as Miss Ives in Penny Dreadful. You never communicated from that space because you weren’t there.
I found your wisdom in the Gospels of Thomas, Mary and Philip. Some of it was even preserved in the text that Rome canonised.
It was Rome and the Sanhedrin that nailed you to that cross. The state and exoteric religion, hand in hand. No wonder you cried out to your heavenly father with a feeling of utter abandonment in your final hour.
All the while, your earthly mother stood there, by your feet, with your beloved companion, Mary Magdalene. The women never left your side but you were not just abandoned by patriarchy; you were killed by it.
The Beast system couldn’t stand how you treated everyone (including women) as equal and worthy of all the goodness Heaven had in store. No, no. G-d forbid. That would take the people out of the state of fear that made them easy to manipulate.
So, I hope you’re pleased that I finally took you down from my wall and off that cross.
I’d been looking for a sign that you were ready to leap off my wall for a few days. I felt increasingly uncomfortable with your crucified presence. Then I realised that it was I who wasn’t quite ready to completely let go of the idea of a ‘saviour.’ In the end, I let go and let Loki. And it was surprisingly easy, not to say… liberating!
Who crucified you, beloved Master?
I turned you over and found this:
15 is the number of The Devil in the Tarot. Germany set up another Beast system a millennium and a half after Rome closed shop.
What is abundantly clear is that those who want us to live in fear also want you to stay nailed to your cross, Jesus. But you are free now and so am I. I’m free to seek and reconnect with the wisdom of my pre-Christian ancestors. There is no more religious trauma to heal.
I clung to your cross because my traumatised self couldn’t envisage any other salvation. But your trauma couldn’t cure mine. Your wisdom teachings, on the other hand, when taken as that and not as part of any kind of soteriology, have helped me so much. So thank you, Rabbi!
Roots
But I’m ready to move on and go down the roots of my bloodline and ancestry now. My DNA holds the keys and I feel my ancestors watching over me as I set off on another adventure deep into the faith of my Norse and Saami Ancestors.
The Beast system elites keep careful track of their own ancestry but ridicule us when we try to do the same. In my native Sweden, they especially ridiculed the faith of the ancestors as if what they believed was some kind of joke compared to the Lutheran state religion or socialism.
I remember our school teachers speaking so reverently about all things from the Levant and ancient Greece but seeming ashamed when retelling the myths and legends of the North.
The book below is an excellent antidote to this backward programming that so many of us suffer from. The Seed of Yggdrasil (Amazon UK affiliate link) by Maria Kvilhaug goes deep into the myths and she often comes up with pure gold.
