ππ Isis, Wadjet, and the Mouse: Small Signs and Sacred Details for the Virgo New Moon βπβ¨
Two New Tarot Spreads
Happy Sunday, Soul Family!
This week has been full of synchronicities. Only hours after invoking Wadjet, the great cobra goddess of protection, I was bitten on the little toe by a field mouse in my kitchen. Iβm fine (no infection), but this is such an unusual synchronicity that it got me thinkingβ¦ How could I feel so powerfully protected and still get bitten?
π Wadjet and the Mouse
Wadjet guards against the formidable forces of chaos. The mouse, in contrast, represents the small, unseen disruptions that slip in through cracks. In ancient Egyptian writing, Mouse had the hieroglyph E263 (also catalogued as U525)βwritten with the word pnw. The fact that the Egyptians gave Mouse a distinct hieroglyph of its own demonstrates the importance of this little creature in daily life, particularly as a symbol of hidden consumption and gnawing forces.
How perfect, then, that this tiny creature should appear just as I had been working with Wadjet. She doesnβt mollycoddle those under her serpentine wing, but teaches us to remain alert and humble.
Mouse medicine reminds us to pay attention to detail. It whispers:
Pay attention to whatβs overlooked.
Donβt despise the small things.
Hidden currents shape our paths.
Being bitten by a mouse felt a bit like an initiation. It was certainly a new experience for me and a reminder that spiritual lessons arrive not only in visions of the divine but also in the nibbling surprises of everyday life.
β Virgo, Isis, and the Purifying Vessel
This theme flows beautifully into Virgo Season. The new moon arrives on 22β23 August, right at zero degrees of Virgo. Virgo is often associated with Isis/Iset/Ausetβthe divine priestess, healer, and purifier. Just as Mouse calls us to notice the small details, Virgo asks us to refine, purify, and attend to the sacred vessel of body and soul.
Iβve written a full blog post with tarot spreads and horoscopes for this New Moon in Virgo. You can read it here:

πΉ Working with Isis: Purification and Magic
Isis teaches us that purification is about preparing ourselves to channel divine magic. She calls us to tend our vessels, clear what clutters, and live in alignment with truth.
If youβd like to explore this further, Iβve shared a Tarot spread and practices here:

πΊ The Hermit and the Hermetic Current
The Hermit card is the Major Arcanaβs Virgo archetype. He carries the lantern of wisdom into the dark, much as the initiate carries a spark of divine light through times of solitude and testing.
Itβs no coincidence that we call the body of esoteric wisdom that carried the Egyptian Mysteries forward into the Greco-Roman world βHermetic.β Rooted in teachings attributed to ThothβHermes Trismegistus, this current preserved Isisβ mysteries in coded formβalchemy, astrology, numerology, sacred geometry, and theurgy.
So when we contemplate the Hermit during Virgo Season, we arenβt just thinking about retreat or analysis. Weβre stepping into a lineage of seeking light in the hidden places, from the sanctuaries of Egypt to the mystery schools of Alexandria and beyond. The Hermit reminds us that purification and attention to detail are not about perfectionism but about creating a vessel capable of holding divine wisdom.
π Suggested Practice for the Week Ahead
Notice the Mouse. Pay attention to small details, habits, or cracks in your routine that need tending before Virgoβs new moon.
Invoke Isis. Ask her to guide you in purifying your vessel. This may mean clearing clutter, fasting gently, or simply making space for silence.
Contemplate the Hermit. Meditate on where you are being asked to withdraw, seek wisdom in solitude, or carry light into dark places.
Set Your Intention. As the Dark Moon approaches, consider: What do I need to release so that I am a clearer channel for Light?
π Closing Reflection
From the Great Goddess to the mouse at the threshold, Spirit teaches us through paradox. Protection is both cosmic and minute. And as Virgo season dawns with Isis as our guide, we are reminded that holiness is found as much in the small, daily details as in the great mysteries.

PS. Let me know in the comments if youβve ever been bitten by a mouse!
I was thinking the mouse is a reminder not to sweat the small stuff. I'm glad your toe is okay. Was it your right or left foot?
