My interests have moved around a lot but I've always had a connection to Brigid and the Celtic/Welsh stories. I recently had some dreams and journeys which brought me to where I am now. I have started studying the Avalonian Tradition and Grail Mysteries (also still in OBOD). I'm curious to hear how your journey unfolds. I meant to write on your post where you explained the Roses. Very interesting!
Thanks, Melissa. I too have a great fondness for Brigid and also her Haitian counterpart Maman Brigitte. Sadly, though I now live on the British Isles and love living here, I can't seem to connect with the Celtic myths. I have tried. But I adore Celtic Christianity and I love how they took a Goddess and turned her into a Saint, a Saint who shares many of the qualities of Mother Mary. Her main celebration, Imbolc, falls on the day before Candlemas which is the day I first self-dedicated as a witch back in 2003. I've been on this journey for a while now but RTS tripped me up a couple of times until I turned around and faced that demon.
I can relate somewhat to the RTS. I wouldn't say I have trauma but I know the religion of my upbringing has tripped me up quite a lot in my years of paganism. The fear and shame is difficult to overcome. I'm glad to hear you've conquered that demon! I knew you lived across the pond from me but didn't know where. Such a beautiful place! It's my dream to visit Glastonbury. Is that far from you?
Glastonbury is quite far from where I live. It's in the South of England and I'm in the North. On the plus side, I'm not far from the Lake District and many other gorgeous places. We have our own stone circle up here, Castlerigg, which is well worth a visit. I'm originally from Sweden but the British Isles is home to me. I love it here. Where in the US are you? I spent three years in the Bible Belt in my youth (SC & TN).
I wanted to respond to your question from a few weeks ago. We have something in common... I was born, raised, and still live in TN. So you totally understand the religious conditioning that comes from living in this area. I live in East TN, not far from the NC border. It's very cool to know you've lived here in the state!
Very cool. I spent about five months in Greensboro, NC too when I was 17 (so a very long time ago). I sometimes still have dreams about Chattanooga and the fundamentalist Christian University I went to there in the late 80s. Though I have Christian roots in the Evangelical movement, I actually converted to Catholicism during my first marriage. Two marriages later, I think it's safe to say I'm a lapsed Catholic with no hope of ever returning. It's kind of hilarious that it's easier for a murderer or paedophile to get back into the good graces of the church than it is for a divorcée.
